Message I am about ready to upgrade my auto trans and wanted to once again ask the board which is best although I suspect I know the answer. I also need some info on shipping a trans, what company, how should it be crated and what did others pay to ship it.

I am looking at Z1, SpecialtyZ and SGP.

At Z1, a cost of $1,600 and comes with the torque converter
seems atractive provided the transmission will hold the estimated 475 crank horsepower my car has plus the occasional 100 from the NOS.

SpecialtyZ has theirs for $2,500 and if you want the cool flex plate that they suggest, add in $475. Now it only seems to make sence to use a high performance torque converter but they don't list one, come to think of it, I couldn't find one any any of the 3 sites.

SGP has a beefed up trans and like SpecialtyZ, it comes without the torque converter at $3,249

I know of a few guys here have the Greg Dupree/SpecialtyZ trans and love them but does anyone have one from either of the other 2 or from anywhere else and can offer some raves or words of caution? Does anyone have any thoughts on the torque converter? Is the stock one ok for my application?
